James Stevenson solo album now available on vinyl
James has his 2014 solo album, Everything’s Getting Closer To Being Over, now available on vinyl. Until now it has only been available in limited numbers – including to pledgers of the new Gene Loves Jezebel album, Dance Underwater – but is now on general sale via his website.
It is a blue vinyl edition with gatefold sleeve.
Written by James and produced by Peter Walsh, many of the songs feature Peter Rizzo on bass and/or Chris Bell on drums, with Jay co-writing one of the songs. On Go Mister, you will find both Pete and Chris alongside James.
The Mountain Goats sing about Gene Loves Jezebel
Californian ‘indie-folk’ band The Mountain Goats have just released their sixteenth studio album, entitled Goths. The final song of the 12-track album is Abandoned Flesh and a paean to Gene Loves Jezebel and the overlooked forgotten bands.

‘Summertime’ to be first single from ‘Dance Underwater’
Gene Loves Jezebel will release, Summertime, on 2nd June. Taken from the forthcoming album, Dance Underwater, this will be a digital-only single. The album itself is due on 30th June, as CD, gatefold clear vinyl and download.

Gene Loves Jezebel’s new album is called Dance Underwater, and has today, been released to pledgers. Consequently the Pledgemusic page is now closed. Official CD and vinyl release will be in a couple of months time.

New album underway
Gene Loves Jezebel are in the midst of recording a brand new studio album.
Admittedly, it’s been a long time coming but since their last studio album of 1999, GLJ have continued to play live, touring with Spear Of Destiny, gigs at Whitby Goth Weekend and regularly in Portugal, and also in supporting The Mission and Fields of the Nephilim. Apart from the main band, Jay Aston and Pete Rizzo have released an album as Ugly Buggs; Pete has released his own solo efforts where he is now taking on song-writing; Jay has performed a series of solo acoustic performances in the UK and USA, with a voice more strident than ever; James Stevenson has toured and made music with The International Swingers, The Alarm, Holy Holy and Chelsea, and even released his own album Everything’s Getting Closer To Being Over.
Now at the height of their creative power, the time is right for Jay Aston, Pete Rizzo and James Stevenson to be back in the studio to record a new Gene Loves Jezebel album. And back on drums is Chris Bell, a GLJ stalwart having worked with the band from the time of Immigrant and Discover with his solid assured style.
Pledgemusic success
The band have successfully achieved their goal to fund the recording of a brand new album, and will head into the studio soon with producer Peter Walsh (producer of The House of Dolls and Heavenly Bodies, and also James Stevenson’s recent solo album, Everything’s Getting Closer To Being Over).
